Default Canary Islands

Hi,
New to the forum, I have been researching Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria for some time. I'd like any opinions or advice on the islands, I have visited in the past, but never lived on any of them.
I can't make up my mind on which island to focus on and wanted to pick your brains for any ideas, so here goes. How is the current economic climate affecting living (have noticed that some house prices have come down) on the islands? Is it still possible to get work?
Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. FYI I have an income from the UK but, my partner needs to work, her background is retail management and she speaks basic spanish.
Thanks in advance!

Well we live on Lanzarote and work is getting harder and harder to find. Slowly getting to the point where we may have to consider moving.
The single problem is visitor numbers are down big time and the ones
who are still coming are watching what they spend. (Cannot blame them, but it does not help anyone out here).
Good luck
If you need anything else PM me

Thanks for getting back to me Keith!
Seems to be the same all over right now, I will continue to look around.
I can't pm you yet, as I haven't made 5 posts! I had read that visitor numbers were down on the islands, hope things work out for you!
Thanks
Lesley

Hi Lesley
Work wise things are very bad, everyone is cutting back and if not on staff number then the wages paid. The normally 6 euros a hour wage is already dropping in some bars to 4.5e, problem is how are you expected to live on that when everything else is going up. :curse:

Would not be so bad if there was some sign of change, but doubt it
will pick up before 2010 at least.

good luck with your search.

Did not know you cannot PM until you have done 5 messages to thanks
for that info as well
