I appreciate your (and others) comments on their experiences with the health service in Spain, as it's something that I'd have to consider (not just for my partner, I'm none too young either) if buying property there. Thanks

Calling a 2 bed campo house a Cortijo is only done by British ex-pats and estate agents. It would sound very pretentious to a spaniard. Bit like owning a cottage in the UK and calling it a mansion or a country estate with lots of land. I have only heard spanish owners who own property in the country call them "casa" or "finca".
I found the term Cortijo in fairly common use in Andalucia, while Finca is often used in other areas and the Canaries.
Casa more often than not has no agricultural connection.
Just my own view from what I've seen myself.

It never ceases to amaze me how they often manage such a large through-put of patients, under often difficult and crowded conditions, without compromising high standards, to the best of my knowledge and experience.
Right back to this 2 bed house for 70k,...just hope its not on an old riverbed or earthquake zone.

Does anyone know an area where this is possible?
Reason for asking is I've found several cities in the north or east of England where this is possible. Surely it can be done in Spain too?
Edit: I wrote house meaning terraced house as regards the UK property, but a piso with 2 bedrooms would be quite acceptable

Talking in regards to spain there is a deep recession taking place and property is just not selling. Letting is very difficult as well plus in addition to that taxes are high. One would have to pay 25% tax on gross rental income to start with.We have also experienced a growing trend by the Spanish towards racist remarks and actions.

Anyone thinking of coming to Spain please ignore these comments. In 10 years of being in Spain I have never come across one bigoted remark or action directed at any British person. I speak Spanish fluently, but with my kids I only speak English so outwardly I am clearly a foreigner.

The people I have come across who cry "racist" usually dont speak a word of Spanish and go through the world paranoid that Spanish people hate them.
Maybe I'm wrong in this case though, jinosbrovens, what exactly was your "racism" experience?

Maybe it's better to live in Spain as an expat and not to bother learning any Spanish at all. You'll never come across racism, will you?
And as for the racists? It must be galling for them to rant away at a foreigner who just smiles back and says, 'Grassy ass'.
