Does anyone know an area where this is possible?

Reason for asking is I've found several cities in the north or east of England where this is possible. Surely it can be done in Spain too?

Edit: I wrote house meaning terraced house as regards the UK property, but a piso with 2 bedrooms would be quite acceptable

I'm sure you can, but IMO you get what you pay for, area, condition, accessories, facilities........

Are property prices drop still further in Spain anyway???

we have brought a 2 double bedroom cortijo near albunol for 74k it has 1600 square metre plot as well lovley place going back out late april to do some work and have a sort out as a bit cluttered and looking to move out for good late next year

I would be surprised if you couldn't find something perfectly habitable in the Valencia Province for 60,000 euros.

However it appears that it should have a central open space / patio plus living and work / storage areas.

When you say 70k, do you mean £'s or euros?

Don't forget also that anywhere in Spain attracts approx another 10% on top to allow for taxes, bills etc.

With the current weakness of the pound, it's more or less the same! It could be down as a hypothetical question, just I'm looking around to see if there's a chance I can buy somewhere to retire in. No chance of that where I'm now working (London), and if the company cuts any staff I'll be first out. But it's good to aspire to something, otherwise what's the point? Believe it or not I'm looking at Grimsby in the UK, as prices are cheap there (and I know a little about the place as some family came from there). But I'm also considering Spain as a lot of the basic costs (council tax, transport etc) are cheaper. Only downside is medical care.

Is there a website similar to Rightmove.com in Spain. I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I can't remember it.
