can someone explain.......
this api on flights? i dont understand it!
i've booked flights for my husband and stepson for next week and just had to go back and enter their passport numbers and date of birth but was wondering why? its only for passengers flying from uk and switzerland that are flying into spain?
not really important, i am just curious

It's what is called the APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) that has been in use to the USA for a goodly while and is being rolled out across Europe. It just happens that Spain is the first Schengen country to go live with it. It will, eventually, apply to all flights across national boundaries within Europe and is intended to allow the country of destination to detect the prospective arrival of undesirables before they get to immigration. Big Brother is watching You

but why is only if u are flying from UK or Switzerland into Spain that it applies?
