Whatever you get make sure it has an anti-shake feature (whatever is called) some digital cameras are very sensitive to movement and take very blury pictures..

For what its worth there are a few good points in the thread.

Dont get an SLR unless you are serious about photography, you'll get fed up of carting it around with you

If buying a compact, buy one with a viewfinder, dont be tempted by a viewing screen ... you'll regret it as you won't be able to see it properly in bright sunlight.

My two penneth, pay a bit extra and get a Canon. They are reliable, good pictures, and the software you get with them is excellent for both sorting and manipulating your piccies.

Got my camera :thumbsup:

I ended up with a Canon A570 IS, its not pink but it does what I need it for :D

Nope, I'm just like Canon cameras, and I've had Pentax, Minolta, right down to a Zenith EM!
