Re: Cadiz?
I had always assumed that Marbella was for rich yacht owning types and sons/daughters of footballers?!
Beach is not exactly a requirement for winter but yes I agree, Seville/Granada during the summer time would be too hot.

But as long as you stay away from cr*ppy overpriced clubs and bars than Marbella is nothing more than a small, pleasant Spanish city with a nice coastline and a huge debt problem. There isnt very much upmarket about it any more. Cities like San Sebastian, Oviedo or the wealthy neighbourhoods of Barcelona and Madrid are way more upmarket.

Not exactly. More like a base for Russian maffia and chavvy types from Essex who think they are living it large

With Putin acting as Godfather, best not to upset them too much.

Not at all. You do get some of those types. But, behind it all, Marbella is just a pleasant Spanish town. Take a walk on the Paseo Maritimo on a Sunday afternoon and it's mostly young Spanish families with kids enjoying the day. I don't know what your budget is, but in this economy, it would be fairly easy to find a rental around the 500 Euro mark.
