After Brexit it is possible that import duty now applies. Does anyone have a definitive (quoting the source) answer to that. If import duty does now apply it could account for the amount quoted. If so it knocks on the head any possibility of importing a car from the UK.

Perhaps Airways can share the breakdown of his €41,000 quote would be interesting to see and informative for the rest of us.

These are the people one of our neighbours used and he is in the process of bringing another car over (its a high value classic that has recently been nut n bolt restored).

https://vehicleregistrationscostadel...-car-to-spain/

But the bottom line is that tax is now 31% of the 'new' cost of the car or the value placed on it by the 'Spanish book' at the time of import.

So to be honest I doubt any new or newish car will be 31% or more cheaper to buy in the UK (or anywhere else) to make it worth it.
Also you now have to factor in the lack of warranty on any import because the car becomes 'grey' as its now from a third country, even if that Ford was built here in the first place. (the first car my neighbour brought over was built in Germany, but is a UK spec (not sold anywhere else) and the manufacturer would not continue its warranty when he asked)
There were lots of high spec Toyota's in the Uk imported from Japan in the 1990's none of which could be warranted.
If the car were from the US there will be other issues like emission controls.

And on another note, ANY Uk car thats over Oh lets say 6 years old will already be suffering from some form of corrosion issues due to the salt that is put on the roads.
Cars here don't corrode, my FIL has a 20 year old Focus with most of the paint missing from the drivers door and in the three years since it got damaged there is little or no surface rust.
Try that in the UK

911 Turbo S maybe £110k to £150k( you can add lots of nice toys to these) I have a mate in the Uk with a seven year old one and that cost him £65k
Given a choice I would rather have a 924 from the 80's

But will stick to my 88 Portuguese made British Leyland Mini Moke thanks...

Porsche Turbo (as described by airways) isn’t particularly descriptive and could mean almost any vehicle in the Porsche line up from a cheap Macan SUV through to the most expensive 935

I suppose if you bought any vehicle new in the UK with the intention of an immediate export then you wouldn’t pay tax in the UK which would soften the blow taking it to Spain. Assuming you are staying outside the UK for 6 months at least.

Agree that the VAT would be waived but you would still be paying the 31% here so it would still be 10% plus the couple of grand to then ship it, if it only has one reverse and rear fog then these would need changing, headlights if not adjustable (or flat beam) and then to register it and get it on Spanish plates..
Would not be legal to drive in the UK so would need transport, it then would need a Spanish test (all stuff that adds up cost wise).

Still can't see why anyone wants to ship from anywhere to here, its not as if Spain is like Cuba (or do some people think it is??)
And will a UK dealer actually supply a car unregistered for you to ship somewhere else?? Not sure they will...

I do remember years ago, you could get on the ferry to Dublin and buy a car in Ireland and then go and collect it on another visit and then drive it home, when some models were a lot cheaper than the UK. They were still registered in Ireland and you had to reregister then to Uk plates.

.
Not all dealers are setup for tax free sales but you can find a dealer for most makes that will sell for export. As an example BMW Park Lane in London (which is owned by BMW UK rather than a franchise ) will sell you a car for export, you can actually factory order it in the country spec for the market you are exporting to, so it will conform to local spec. They used to sell a lot of vehicles to British Forces in Germany from there on a special scheme.

But as you say for Spain it still seems expensive on the face of it to export.
