Broadband - Javea
#1
My parents are just about to get their first computer :scared: and are looking for internet access. I understand Telefonica do broadband but someone has said it can be a bit hit or miss, and their prices are not very competitive.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a company in Javea for broadband access? They live up at Balcon al Mar if that makes any difference.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

ThanksOk the first question is has the house got a fixed phone line? If not then they are stuffed. Telefonica are notoriously slow in giving out new lines. In fact that rises a question… do they?
If you do search on this forum fro either Telefonica or ADSL you should find loads of answers to the questions.
Good luck

Someone else has suggested to my parents Swiss Cable but nobody seems to have used them for their broadband, just for their TV.

Telefonica broadband is good, had it for about 4 years and only had a problem once when the wind loosened the connection on the pole.
They own all the phone lines anyway so if you had another supplier and there was a problem you would just double it.
Its not expensive, just over a € a day 24/7 and free local calls.

ThanksI have been with them for six months without any problems at all.
Personally I would give Wanadoo a wide berth I had major problems with this company.
Good Luck.

There are better deals out there (beware) when I was with Tiscali, they just got up and left my area (Javea) without a word , it was a nightmare finding another supplier, but Telefonica were so helpful they rang back with someone who speaks English as my Spanish is not very good , they tell you all offers available, so you can choose the one that suits.

There is in fact another possibility for broadband: Swiss Cable! They are not in all the streets in Balcon al Mar, but most of them. Their price is very good as well. Hope you can get it!
Kind regards
Silvia

For an extra €1 per month you can now get 3MB broadband with Telefónica plus the free national calls.
My ADSL connection has been pretty reliable over the past four years but recently it has been prone to short interruptions due to the speed upgrade process.

If you want to avoid Telefonica altogether use a cable company such as ONO or Jazztel. You would need to check first to see if they have cables in your area (look on their websites). The telefonica line would then become redundant and you could cancel the subscription. I cancelled my Telefonica subscription last week - yippee!!! - I´ve been waiting months to do so!

Yes I have tried Google and 6 other search engines before I asked here, but can only get the Swiss site ( ch ), so thought it might come under a different name in Spain
