British run farms in Spain?
Hi,
I was curious if there are many British run farms in Spain and if this is something that is viable for someone planning to relocate to Spain and start a venture of this kind? This could be along the lines of a more commercial venture or a personal project on private land. It would be great to know if there are others doing this, especially in the Andalucía region.
Thanks in advance.

I seem to remember a similar thread a while ago with someone who had a similar idea - non-starter IMO.

I once applied for a farm manager's job near Ronda, a 600ha 'finca' owned by Zac Goldsmith, the former editor of The Ecologist/MP.
What would be the difference for you between a British run one and an enterprising Spanish one?

Andalucia. Olives, asparagus, fruit and veg. I would make sure you had a good supply of water. It is going to get hotter and drier.
Maybe a niche market like specialist veg and herbs for upmarket restaurant.

Doesn't that niche market already exist? On Goodbye Deutschland a guy called Andre started selling veg in Arico Tenerife to upmarket restaurants, but being on a TV show probably helps and he still doesn't seem to be that successful. It's all about connections and why should the Spanish restaurant owner now buy from a foreigner instead of the local Spanish seller? Even the foreign business owner prefers the local Spanish supplier because it gives him more connections.
