Be careful. Are you sure you are judging your opinion based on reality or what you've read in certain magazines?
We like to go to Marbella to walk along the paseo which is much nicer than anywhere else on the CDS, the quality of restaurants is also better (although not as good as in Malaga city). The old town is also pretty nice. I've never seen any stag parties or Z-list celebs, although I wouldnt know who they were
The show-offs and Russians tend to hang around Puerto Banus which is actually 7km away, and actually I've never been as its reputation preceeds it. The rest of Marbella just resembles a smallish and nice-ish Spanish town with a lovely paseo

Yes it was really nice a long time ago when it was just a pretty little marina, now especially at night it's not a good place to be, consequently we haven't been back for about four years.

I thought every bunch of British 20somethings still did their stag/hen in Benidorm... at least, every time I fly in and out of Alicante there seems to be at least one group of matching t-shirts and hangovers.
