Re: bricklayers wages??
A lot depends on whether you are being employed legally , illegally 70 -120 euro per day ,legally 80 -140 euro ,obviously better to be employed legally as you get full medical cover etc but your employer may be reluctant as he will have to pay around 400 euro pm for your NI!!

Avoid being self enployed (autonomo) if you can as it will cost you around 260 euro p.m for NI plus an accountants fees etc and even if you have a bad month and dont earn 260 euro you still have to pay your NI !!!

Employed albañil (workers) are paid about 17euros/hour but this can vary slightly depending on skills and wether legal or not.

17€ sounds more like the charge out rate rather than what the guy would get paid.
I only pay 12€ for skilled brickies/carpenters etc. and with the current employment situation I am pretty sure I can get a better deal.

Re: bricklayers wages??
knew a guy once, he was offered a legal job with a company that does new builds...work coming out their ears (this was a couple of years ago) was being paid per m2
he took the job and started on day as agreed...end of day 2 boss man came down and said work wasnt to standard and he hadnt done enough m2 in the time.....he had to take down the walls he had built and re-build them in his own time
apparently this was all written in the contract....he didnt read or speak Spanish
so that was the end of that job !
make sure you read the small print of your contract adzcosta

You won`t get much work then, Spanish work for half that and the Eastern Europeans less than that. ;-))
