Hi, I am a Canadian Permanent Resident with a UK passport. As my wife and I have recently become Grandparents we had decided to purchase property in Spain and stay there for 4 or 5 months of the year and return to Canada for the rest. We are ready to buy now but not sure how Brexit will effect our plans. Can we buy ?, can we stay ?, Do we need visas ?. everything seems so confusing at the moment. Do I buy before or after Brexit ?. Any information would be much appreciated.

Anybody can buy property in Spain and if you're from Canada, China or Italy doesn't really matter. Even after Brexit the UK is still in Europe (EEA country) so it might be the same as it is now for citizens from Iceland, Norway, Russia etc (check requirements). https://www.expatica.com/es/moving/v...ration-422591/ Of course it also depends where you will be buying, as prices could drop in certain areas.

The UK government is not planning on being in the EEA after Brexit , this may change of course but is certainly not in the planning, none EEA member citizens are treated differently for tax purposes if none residents than EU or EEA citizens, it worth bearing in mind
