If you spend 50 years working low hours on a ZHC I would suggest you have chosen that lifestyle.

Sure, low-pay means you have less money - which means you either need to upskill so your pay is no longer low or you need to work an extra job to earn more via more hours. Either way, over a near 50-year period there will have been plenty of opportunities to defer gratification and save into a tax-free vehicle for retirement, even if that vehicle is not as large as other's will be.
