The most usful phase in a Spanish converation is "despacio por favor" usually repeated about every minute.

I agree with both of you keithBT and Barriej it's only to show you are trying and it's good for your mind to learn. I remember when I've started to learn vocabularies was not able to remember the words, but now it is not anymore so bad it's just practicing. Think it is a good idea to learn one word per day.

Simple learn as many words as possible and then to put them somehow together like Lego :-)

On one of my earlier trips to Spain, in 1974, I remember a fat man in the airport queue shouting, 'Does anyone speak English here?' Two years before, I took a coach trip from Costa del Sol to Granada, and the young guide was totally fluent in English, German and French, as well as Spanish, with hardly any foreign accents.
