If someone or a country has a lot of debt they can create the illusion of being rich. But they ain't rich.

Horlics I am skint. Give me a tip on how to appear rich

<LMAO> The "richest country in the world" is defined on the basis of their GDP. Every year since WW2 ended, USA had by far the largest GDP. Depending on whose stats you believe they may have been overtaken by China in 2014.

It's not just wealth. It's how the wealth is distributed and it seems to me the answer is unfairly.

I have already said, in my opinion USA does not distribute their wealth fairly. Abe Lincoln must be turning in his grave.

Whilst if the definition is based on GDP Per Capita the USA falls to 9th place in 2014

Robert Maxwell died when he fell off a yacht worth millions. He was skint but had managed to appear rich. His sons, the next generation, were left in no doubt exactly how rich he actually was.
The next generation of the USA will discover exactly how rich the current generation is.
Got it missile, or still too difficult for you?

Spot on Fred.
I lived in the UAE for 5 years. 850,000 locals all of whom enjoy free health care, free homes and the land they sit on, free electricity and water, and subsidised lots of other stuff.
Let's see the so-called wealthy USA (or almost all other countries) extend the same concessions to their citizens.
Nope, I thought not.
Is this helping, missile?

That in general will rule out countries with smaller populations.
