Back in Competa

Hi guys,
returned last night to Competa for a week, as soon as we arrive it is as if we have never left it. We arrived back in the village about 11 last night, had a quick freshen up and then went out for a nightcap to the Museo, lovely bar and restaurant, good music , lovely atmosphere. As soon as we walked in and saw friends we had a lovely welcome, hugged and kissed so many people, a welcome that never happens in Uk, a hi how are you, haven't seen you for a while but nowhere near the warm welcome here in Spain.
Although we were tired, I had been working all day, we had to be very sociable, hee hee and have just a few drinkies, so the night went on and got to bed at 2:30. that just doesn't happen at home.

Have had a relaxing day, did a bit of shopping, mooched about our tiny Saturday market and tended to any ailing plants on the terrace or in courtyard, most are fine, brill neighbour gives them tlc when I am not there.
Going to a bar in Archez tonight, a new one apparently, never been there but meeting friends and watching Rugby too. Well I hope I am, arranged a taxi, eventually as most of the village ones seemed to be going to the airport, but have arranged a pickup and return, so hopefully we will get there, have to rely on my spanish in these situations, so fingers crossed we will not be sitting at the pick up point forever, or dropped off and never collected again.
So COME ON ENGLAND take care everyone.
Luv Eve

Hi Eve,
Glad you are feeling better. Maybe we can get together. When do you fly back? I'll PM you and see if we can arrange something.

Hi all,
Have had a lovely day today. Started the day with a nice lay in and coffee in bed. Once we were up I did a few girly chores, washing etc , OH got the drill out, just felt he needed to put a few holes gere and there, like you men do! had to stop then of course, sun was out so needed to use the sun lounger and have a coffee.
Checked up on e mails and BE and read a Pm from Sunnydee, and within a couple of hours we met up down on the coast, sat at a nice bar, with a drink or 2 and had a good old natter. Thank you both, it was lovely to meet you and you son of course, glad the chicken pox are on their way out. I am sure he cant wait to get back to school !! Good luck with all your plans, look forward to meeting up again.
After that we drove back home, sun still shining, we got a small lunch and back on the terrace, and then a siesta followed, just woke, a large cloud looming up, not worried though just going to watch grand prix.
So all in all a lovely totally unexpected day.
Absolutely brilliant to put a name to a face, thatnk you BE. Speak again soon.
Fingers crossed for hamilton.
Luv Eve

Hi Eve
Glad to hear you're having such a great time back in your spiritual home
Those Spanish welcomes are second to none, aren't they?
I guess you're feeling better than you were this time last week, eh?
Besides which, any last remaining bugs can soon be drowned by a few glasses of tinto or something
How lovely that you've met up with Sunnydee; that's fab!
Sounds like you really hit it off
Now, what about lovely HUGO!!?
What news of our four legged friend?
Who looks after him while you're back in the UK?
More piccies please!
Take care, and have a great week (don't think half term is a fortnight this year, is it? Not at my old school, anyway!)
Love and happy holiday hugs,
from Sam x

We had a relaxing couple of hours by the sea with Eve and her husband today. Thanks Eve for being able to make it at such short notice.
I'm working this week as my half term isn't until next week. Where did you work Brisca? I never had a 2 week half term where I was in the Uk! Mind you we only get 3 days here but there was a national holiday 2 weeks ago and we get 2 days off at the beginning of December so it breaks the term up nicely.
As Eve said it's nice to meet up with someone from the forum. Look forward to seeing you again next time you are out. Hopefully with a less spotty son in tow!

Hi there sunnydee
How's the new job going? Do you like it?
Sorry to hear your son has got (had?) chicken pox
I hope he hasn't felt too poorly?
Apart from being ill, how is your son enjoying life here? Does he like school?
I was a 1:1 Assistant for a (gorgeous
) boy who had Aspergers syndrome, in a mainstream primary school in Somerset.
I remember one year (it must have been 2005, just before we moved here) we had a fortnight's half term in October/November. Maybe it was a one off?
Glad to hear you're enjoying the "puentes", and getting a few nice long weekends
Sounds like you had a lovely time with Eve

I am really enjoying my job - all the staff are friendly and supportive. I'm not bringing any work home now so Sundays are paperwork free.
Jayson spent nearly 10 years in England without getting chicken pox and has managed to get it here! He wasn't ill but is now bored as he had more than a week off school. I thought the spots stopped appearing after 6 days but he got his last one (hopefully) on the 11th day.
He has settled well as has my daughter who is 16.
So far it has been the best decision we have ever made.

Hi Eve, hope you enjoy being back in Competa. I still haven't been there but I'll get round to it. Bye for now.
P.S. for Brisca. I supported a man with Aspergers in UK and have just read a book called 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime' about a 15 year old boy with Aspergers. Brilliant.

Hi Shep,
lovely to hear from you, what a glorious day itis today, we have been basking most of the day, got the horrible work out of the way, such as paying our taxes, and then it was sun all the way.
Hope you are well, and with Sunnydee not that far away we must make a concerted effort to have a meet next year.
take care,

I've read that book, and it is indeed brilliant
My friend who has a young son with AS, also recommended "Born on a Blue Day", but I haven't got hold of it yet. Definitely sounds worth a read.
I give English conversation lessons to a young Spanish chap, and he had read "The Curious Incident" too (in Spanish).
He was very keen to learn more about AS and Autism, so it was a really good discussion we had that session!
Always good to "spread the word", eh?
I'm sure you enjoyed your job every bit as much as I did mine

There's someone else on here who's very interested/involved in Autism - I think it might be Wheatsheaf??

All the best to you,
Sam.
