Apparently it's reported on the Ayamonte.es website that the town council have opened a registry for people to input their C.V's in relation to various positions within the water park ,opening on summer 2016

Yes that's what the mayor said he would do in his presentation at the GC in fact there is a tiny poster in the shop concerning the opening of the register and stipulating three or four criteria one of which is fluency in English!

It seems to have gone unnoticed but a development of this nature should require, under EU law, the completion of an Environmental Statement before it can be approved (or otherwise).

Anyway - the environmental impact of what we'll get will be the same - 0!

Had to chuckle when I saw this:

Can anyone give me an update on the water park? Last I heard was that they had commenced building but where is it and when is it going to open? We were out last week but didn't see anything. Thanks.

Here is what you did not want to hear. There has been no start no work on site or off. The approvals were all given however the Russian investors did not start but asked the Junta Andalucia for more grant money despite already having been awarded a grant. The junta quite rightly said no so no it has not started nor is it likely to!

To be honest, I have real doubts that the waterpark will ever materialise. The reason I say this is because IMO they are going out of fashion. Most families have tried them before and its kind of old hat now. Also, I struggle to see how they are profitable due to the very short season from usually no earlier than mid june to early sept, this covering the school summer hols for ALL nationalities. Unless they build a 52 wk convention centre / hotel there to support a waterpark I just cant see it. There was a park just over the border on the O infante (resto) roundabout on the N125, close to Altura, which appears to have shut down many years ago. I'm sure it would be open if they could make money.
Having said all that, I would be in favour of seeing it built as anything would help improve the viability of the entire area. ie the golf course, unfinished hotel & shops at esuri. At 63 years old, I'm hoping to see this all completed in my lifetime, but I'm not entirely optimistic right now !!!!!!
