British passport/TIE holder. Wanting to go to Australia to visit family and travel for a while. Would it be best for me to go to the Australian embassy in Madrid to obtain a visa ?

Any idea which visa I would need ?

Thanks.

Have a look at the Australian government's department of home affairs 'visa finder', here https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visa...sa/visa-finder

Do it online, easy peasy.

Done it a number of times and it's FREE!

Can you imagine if every person in Spain who wanted to travel to OZ was obliged to go to Madrid for a visa, that stuff went out of the window decades ago!

As a British passport holder, you don't normally require a tourist visa, just ETA (electronic travel authorisation), which is an electronic pre-clearance using their app. It only takes minutes to complete and you get travel authorisation within 24 hours in most cases.

Dont need a visa You do however need to open an IMMI account and get the electronic version.
Lasts a year, is free, but you cannot stay more than 3 months at a time, for that you will need an actual visa.

How do I know??
We are off to Brisbane in two weeks for a couple of months........
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visa...a-finder/visit

Choose holiday as this is the simple one.
Setup the account, fill in the details and you will get an email within an hour, you can use the same account for as many people as you like.....

Ive printed ours out as last time we were held up while they checked the Sinclair ZX spectrum they use in Brisbane.....

If you want to stay more than three months use this one..

Can take around two weeks to get the OK...

You were lucky, sometimes they still use chalk and slates and communicate by carrier pigeon
