More people heading north to avoid heatwaves but overall numbers up

Fewer domestic tourists on the Costa del Sol this year than last, apparently, but higher numbers of international visitors more than made up for it.

They are, we were in La Villajoyosa yesterday and it was heaving... Maybe because of the bank holiday but its normally pretty busy until November when most of the hotels are closed and only people like us go there for a walk and a coffee.
Benidorm was also very busy last week with British tourists but come November you wont hear anything but a Spanish accent as the resort gets flooded with Spanish OAP's.....

I like the heat so wont see me moving North.. Id rather head further south if I could.. A couple of thousand miles south would be best....

Yes we went to Benidorm a couple of weeks ago - looked like it was still August! heaving with people...
