Not suggesting that the Gibraltarians are racist are you ??..
Unlike you they are not

The Chinese and the multitude of other races in Gibraltar have many opportunities of earning a goog living without having to sell tat.

So, you agree that extinction of fish is to be blamed on the Chinese living in Gibraltar? And that Apple is the reason for it?

Sorry but the fish are not extinct, they have been replaced by concrete blocks sourced from Spain.

Apples? well there are many from the UK on sale at Morrisons and equally many from Spain at Coviran and Eroski. Also some from Morocco in the Moroccan shops.

However I prefer mine squashed into juice and fermented into cider

In our house we have four i7 PC's, two i5 PC's, three Samsung Galaxy S5's, i7 Sony Vaio laptop, one Surface Pro and one Surface Pro 3 and a 12TB home network, Apple do not impress me.

According to my children, iphones are the phone of choice for UK 'chavs' so they'd not be seen dead with one.

Wow, 200 million chavs.

Perhaps EMR can explain to us how Apple is responsible for turning the world's population into chavs? (and quite possibly, caused the extinction of fish).

Does Apple have a store in Gibraltar? (iChav HQ, perhaps?). The plot sickens!

They are not, its just that Apple phones are a good deal in the UK for contract phones and the phones image suits many people, especially those who wear Burberry hats lol.

That charming wit always keeps us coming back for more, EMR.

And yes, we know you've always been "above it it all". Keep up the good work!

I see from the above and Fred's post that I responded to that the ' apple ` does not fall far from the tree.

Back to the topic I would have that that you as our uber capitalist would have something to say about Obamas efforts to get the global corporations to pay their fair share of tax.
The Uk., the ,EU and now the U S looks like momentum is growing and about time too.

The driving force for most people or companies to move to another jurisdiction is tax.

Hopefully with the moves taking place that option will be removed or lessened.
From what I have read Obama wants to enforce tax on profits in the US irrespective of where a company is registered.
This is also the moves taking place in the UK.

If the tax bill on individuals is to be lessened then that on corporations and avoidance schemes has to increased.

I expect to see that tax will be one of the major issues in the UK election .

I think it's a good thing- however I'd caution against mission creep into "tax greed" - you need only look at Europe to see the pitfalls of that.

But I really don't see why that makes any difference to you. It won't be any more "fair" to you, and will hardly make a hill of beans of difference to Europe's problems, if anything at all. Besides, if successful, most of it will go to the US treasury anyway.

But it may help to once and for all send a clear message to all that Europe will never tolerate business making a profit without taking a major cut for itself. Except of course, for those who employ lots of European taxpayers, a club Apple isn't a member of.

Which Government or institution is against profit.
As an advocate of voter power I would have expected you to support the move by governments finally to accept that if they keep raising the tax bill on individuals they will not stay in power.
Only this week we had the Chairman of Boots ( offshore tax exile ) attacking moves by the Labour party to raise the issue of companies and people like him avoiding their share of tax.
This is only good news for Milliband etc.
