I've got a free appointment with Blevins- Franks to discuss investment options as an English resident of Spain.
I have searched the net and can't find anything bad said about them.
Just wondering if anyone here has used, or know of anyone who has used them for investment advice and whether you/they would recommend them.

I bought their book, which I must say is very informative and I would reccommend it.
I made an enquiry about a consultation and was told that the fee would be between £800 and £2000 (If memory serves). I thought that was a bit steep, however I have since spoken to another specialist outfit and been informed that that is not a bad price. Like someone else has already said they are well regarded in the industry.
Do me a favour will you and let us know how you get on!

Thanks
@ splatt The initial consultation is free, I understand their fee depends on the amount of work done if you decide to use them.
I'll have a better idea after our consultation next week. I will let you know.

Well, we've had our free consultation, which in our case was a very interesting two hours spent discussing what our financial investment options are in Spain.
If anyone is interested in having a chat with Blevins Franks I suggest you E-Mail them expressing your interest, they will then send you an online financial planning questionaire to fill in outlining your current investments, savings, pensions, liabilities, loans, mortgage etc. Plus what you are aiming to achieve re income eg. This will enable their advisor to prepare a detailed report prior to any meeting, therefore saving a lot of time.
There is no obligation whatsoever to act on their advice and no charge for this service.
If you do decide to take up their offer to look after your finances the charges are based on a % basis which as is normally the case with most IFA's.
In our case the tax savings alone far outweigh the charges that will be levied.
I also, (being a "belt & braces type of bloke") faxed my 15 page report back to my Uk IFA to ask his opinion.
His reply was that everything was above board, legal and what Blevins Franks were suggesting made sound financial sense for our situation, and that he recommended that we go ahead.
So in conclusion, I can thoroughly recommend them
Oh, and you get a free copy of the latest book

As 'Blackstone Franks', they were with The Entertainer newspaper from the beginning (1985). They were always well respected and honest and - in a country where there are several dodgy financial players - they always stood out for honest dealing.

I have seen articles about them but do not really know what an IFA does. Do they provide a service like a gestoria as well, or do you still need one.
