Or you could try a home made particle filter. The one I have described before used to work pretty damn well, outclassing sand filters and so on by far.

Plus it's cheap as chips and cheap to run.

OK, so I have been on holiday and came back to quite a mucky pool myself. Nobody has mentioned it but we have had sudden heat over the past couple of weeks with the Levante blowing and this often brings dust over from the Sahara. I have a tester for pH, free Cl, total Cl, cyanuric acid and all levels are fine but I also have a solar blanket which got the pool very warm whilst I was away. My pool is clearing but there is a noticeable fine dust which I put down still to the Levante.

pH is 7.3 and each day it is getting closer to sparkling but there is a lot of dust settling on the surface as I have to cover off to cool it down to less than 30.

As the heat increases, the ideal ph becomes slightly lower than normal according to advice and labels on ph down I have

Aye well, after reading posts elsewhere on cyanuric acid I thought that might be an issue but at 37 that was fine too. Might drop the pH a tenth though if it does not drop clear soon.

In which case you need to increase the pH.

Look for "Incrementador de pH" or pH+

There seems to be some confusion here (and I've seen it on professional pool sites too). When I did Chemistry A Level, a low pH (less than 7) showed acidity and a high pH (over 7) showed alkalinity. What they say is that you have to check both the pH levels AND the alkalinity!!!

So, pH- brings alkalinity down (more acid) whilst pH+ brings acidity up (more alkaline).

Or ... am I so old than I have misremembered?

Correct, but I think they mean you have to keep it balanced in between,HERE is a good pool site, scroll down to WATER. IT ONLY LOOKS SIMPLE.
