Re: Andalusian economy
Worrying for Gibraltar if it relies that heavily on Andalusia and Spain for it's physical imports.
The word 'windpipe' springs to mind.

Sea freight is often not that expensive compared with road haulage so if the border closed I think Spain would be the long term looser.

€850m + the wages taken into Spain ( 8000ish ) + the hidden exports of personal purchases in Spain by Gib residents etc.
With that sort of money at stake I would have the frontier gates wide open.

They wouldn't need to stop their exports.
For example, I find that only the slightest closing of the windpipe of a jobsworth would get him to open the bloody gates for me.

I think more worrying for Andalusia / Spain if the Spanish government totally messes up the frontier.

Re: Andalusian economy
What exactly is Gibraltar exporting to Andalucia? How much of that money stays here?
I did read the article but it didn't make a whole lot of sense. Andalucia's economy is based on agriculture, fisheries and tourism. We do export a lot of fruit and vegetables to outside Spain, but of course most of it is for the Spanish market. Why does he see that as a problem?

Re: Andalusian economy
The problem is that polticos make the decisions and as they have no grasp on reality , like many in the UK they are career politicians who have never been in business or had real jobs so we are all doomed and Gib could end up marooned

most politicians have been in business or worked against business as union leaders.
it would be nice to have politicians who are in it for a career rather than a stepping stone to other things and have to put their business careers on hold if their party wins the election.
but then "the wife" always comes in handy as someone to pass the reins to.

Re: Andalusian economy
It probably helps that politicians arent actually elected in Spain
