Re: andalucian dialect

If you're going to be attending a language school, it doesn't matter where you go because the language taught in the school will be pure Castellano not a local dialect. It's only when you're out and about that you will encounter the accents. And if it's only a 4 week course then you won't be getting beyond the basics anyway so I wouldn't worry too much! Go where you want! If it were me I'd be looking at Granada over Sevilla.

Sorry, I've picked up the thread a little late, but wanted to make a comment anyway. :)

I agree that it really doesn't matter where you learn Spanish if it's only a 4 week course you are doing. In my experience, someone who would normally speak in an informal (slangy) way, would change the way they spoke to make themselves understood. It not only depends on where you are, but also who you speak to; as in the U.K it often depends on social status, education and situation.
If you were Spanish went to Oxford to learn English (as many people do), you'd definitely have a hard time understanding some of the locals as you would anywhere.

By the way, most Spanish speakers live outside of Spain (there's just as many people who speak Spanish in the U.S) in the Americas and elsewhere. I'm sure they'd disagree that the best place to learn Spanish is in the north of Spain. ;)

Good luck with the course! Are you still going to Seville?
