Re: Air Conditioning
Hi,
Just wanted to let you know Wilfredo & his crew just installed our central AC unit. Did a good job and then CLEANED UP! (very rare here in Spain). We'll see how they do next year for maintenance .........

Re: Air Conditioning
You should do the basics like clean the filters but that's just like cleaning filters on the vacuum cleaner (if you still have one).

Re: Air Conditioning
On a central air unit filters should be checked and cleaned at least once a year and since for us they're above the bathroom ceiling they're a bit tough to get at. Besides Wilfredo gave us free maintenance for the 1st 2 yrs.

Re: Air Conditioning
The company that we used and recommended on the forum is below. They are in Portugal but have done installations on Esuri. They did a great job for us, including a pressure test we asked for initially to check there were no leaks in the pipes.
We had some problems a while after the installation (not their fault) and they were very helpful as well.

Ive no connection with the company..... feel free to mention my name..
Good luck
Jon
PS FYI we have a duplex and we put 2 systems in, one for the upstairs bedroom and a separate one for the downstairs area. This way we are not heating/cooling the whole place. Also our vents fitted by Fadesa are 'closable' meaning you can shut it off (Ive posted about all this somewhere) but you have to pull the cassette out of the wall and manually shut off the vanes

Many thanks for your recommendation, just had a lovely chap called Jason visit and was very helpful and trying to get to the source of our problem. Whilst it has yet to be resolved both Jason and Euro Cooling Algarve have been professional and prompt and hopefully by early next week we will have a better understanding of our issue that has so far taken nearly two years with Wilfredo.

Re: Air Conditioning
it is good practice to check the condensate pump and sterilise the outlet pipe as mould gathers here and can lead to unidentified smells..
a typical annual maintenence plan would cover
1. Filters are checked and cleaned. Use vaccuum to clean, where appropriate as they get greasy, wash in detergent and dry out before fitting. (some are replaceable)
2. The evaporator and condenser coils are cleaned.
3. All motors are oiled where required.
4. Check condenser.
5. Check thermostat is working accurately.
6. Check all electrical fittings and test controls.
7. Check for correct for refrigerant levels. If found to be low check and repair any leaks before adding further gas. When checking through the unit look to see if there are any leak stains on the joints.
items 1&2 should normally be in the capability of many users, the other items require specialist equipment.
