I dont think that is the idea of the press, it doesnt work like that. Not just about expats but about every subject under the sun. Reporting the status quo is NON news. Nobody wants non news.

I magine the headlines............

64 million people did not die of swine flu last winter.

There have been no hurricanes in Florida last month..........

It doesnt do it for me.

I agree.... but I have one question... if they never report non news, why do we have to read about the latest exploits of "Silicone Tits" Jordan every bloody day? Hmm?

Because, Katie is Jordan, is Katie, is Jordan........and like her or hate her she is a known face.

Interviewing a group of expats, and them saying we are happy here, would be like reporting about the politicions who are not fiddling/cheating or whatever.

We are having a great time too, we love our life here in the sun and have no intention of returning to England, we love our little house and it's location! We don't live an extravagant lifestyle but we can eat out whenever the mood takes us even on our joint pensions... which incidentally go much further than they would in the UK....we can even save!

Journalists are on a par with timeshare touts and double glazing salesmen, what they say should be taken with a large pinch of salt.
It's funny how the media never seek out those of us who have made a success of our move here, they don't want to hear that life is good and that there are no regrets.
Perhaps it's because those back home don't want to think that we have a lifestyle they can only dream of.....it's that green eyed monster at work again!

I cant believe you dont know Jordan, aka Katie.

She is a natural beauty, with the lady like presence and good manners of the late Audrey Hepburn....

she is often seen in the company of 2 bald men.. in fact they could be twins.

I wouldn't recognise the woman if she jumped up and bit me on the nose.

Whenever I see or hear the word Jordan, I realise its probably not the country but some silly tart with big tits, ten a penny these days, so I switch off or move on to something interesting.

Maybe I'm getting past it, but I remember when page three girls were first on the go and I never saw them as anything particularly exciting either, just boring tarts with big boobs instead of brains, and definitely not reason enough to go out and waste money on a crap news rag.

Well put. Plus of course the ink comes off when you wipe your backside on it, so it isn't even any use for that.

Perhaps they are getting their own back, after all, this and a number of other sites have taken great delight in sticking it in during the good times.

As for the Daily Mail, since so many of you act and say you would not dream of reading it, how do know what it contains?

I read most of the papers and they all have their own slant and it would be foolish to say that any are better than the others. Different perhaps appealing to different segments of society that's their job and in the case of the Mail it seems to work. They all get things wrong at times even the Guardian which some of you appear to love and many of its readers accuse of blatently censoring their comments. You pays your money and takes your chance or read them all for free on the net.

Not sure where many of you live in Spain but there has been a haemorrhage of people returning from our area. Of the remaining home owners many simply cannot afford to return to the UK and are literally stuck in Spain. Some of the lucky ones have a foothold in both countries and divide their time between them.

Jim
