Advice please fm patsy
fingers crossed we may have sold our house..... now.. we are in UK and people have viewed our house in Spain and they want to put down a very large deposit in sterling and then pay the rest in sterling. What I am trying to say is is this all possible to do? can I conduct this all fm the UK? will I have to pay tax in spain or UK? arrrrrrgggghhhhhhh its all such a minefield would be glad for some advice fm anybody pllllleese. has anybody else ever done this????????? patsy

friends of ours did similar thing when they sold, they were paid part sterling and part euros - sure anything is poss but best to speak to your lawyer re the tax I would think

Nice one.
People can pay in what they want but it has to be in €`s on the paperwork so they know what to tax you etc and that will have to be paid in €`s too. ;-)

Don't forget that, assuming you're now selling as a non-resident, your purchasers will have to withhold 3% of the declared price and pay it to Hacienda on account in respect of your CGT liability.
