Just been skimming through this thread to see that most banks are jumping on the bandwagon with there unjustified charges.

We are with Santander and they charge us 35€ per quarter for account maintenance. Considering we pay less than lots of you, we never paid any charges when we signed up about 6 years a ago.

We do use them for all our DD’s (about 8) and for paying ad hoc bills and transfers. I guess 11€ a month is not that bad, but still begrudge paying for what we used to get for free.

I just dont get their modus operandi. I don't recall paying hardly anything when I had an account in Torrevieja from 1999 - late 2004. We have free banking here in UK. A mate in finland pays nothing for bank services, but Spain seems to have this god given right to fleece non residents who cannot pay a salary into the account.
I guess I've become a grumpy old git !!
