I get my Dogs doggie chews. You can buy things like pig's ears from Tesco. Not sure what you can get over there? It helps break down the bacteria in their mouths and 'cleans' their teeth. Failing that - buy a child's toothbrush and childrens toothpaste. It's a bit of a fight at first but they do get used to it.

thanks, will have a look when Im next out

My old dog was very partial to a bit of Deer plop. Not to roll in, but to eat:huh: He'd snaffle it up as soon as he could because he knew he wasn't supposed to. It'd stick to his teeth afterwards like he'd just chewed a Snickers.

Sorry if you're eating whilst reading this:unsure:

Aah, Sam's a lovely looking dog - and he looks so at home already :)
He's a lucky boy to have found you and your family.
I'm sure he will bring you years of friendship and happiness.

Do you know, I was thinking of starting a thread about all of us Sams on here!!
There are so many of us - both human and canine - we seem such a common lot!

Anyway, please tell your Sam (in English, Castellano or Valenciano!) that he's gorgeous ;)

All the best, from yet another Sam!

Sorry derbyflan (I don't like to contradict you ) but I was always told that it's not a good idea to use ordinary toothpaste for dogs, because it's too "frothy" and difficult for the dog to remove.
(I mean, my dog's pretty clever - but she can't rinse and spit from a tumbler yet )

You're absolutely right that with a bit of patience and plenty of praise, cleaning a dog's teeth is possible.
However, I would recommend getting a toothpaste that is specially formulated for dogs...............it's usually poultry flavoured rather than freshmint!!

I give my dog whole lamb legs to chew on, that seems to work with her.
