Default A1 driving license

I'm thinking about getting an electric equivalent of a 125cc. To ride it I need an A1 license. Supposedly after 3 years of holding a category B license you are automatically certified for A1, but it's not shown on my license. My license only shows AM and B. The AM appeared on my Italian license in 2019 and was transferred to the Spanish license when I exchanged. The B category is shown from 1996 when I obtained it in the UK. Does anyone know the facts on this, as in can I just go out and ride one?

It's all on the DGT web site (rather than me misquoting them). Alternatively, contact the Guardia Civil via the N332 website and ask them the question.

"Class A1

The class A1 license authorises holders to drive a lightweight motorcycle with a maximum capacity of 125cc and maximum power of 15hp on public roads. Drivers are also allowed to operate motor tricycles with a maximum power output of 20hp. The minimum age to obtain this license is 16. Tests to pass: psycho-physical aptitude test, a common and A1-specific written theory test as well as a closed-circuit and an open-road practical exam. Drivers who have been in possession of a B class license for at least 3 years will be automatically certified to drive A1-compatible vehicles."

According to that you can ride a 125cc but personally I'd still like to see it on a licence, maybe ask at one of the laces which do the psycho-technical tests?

Yes, I checked both before posting. I couldn't find anything useful on the DGT site apart from the realization that I hadn't updated my address. I have to say, their app is great, 2 minutes to update without a visit.

As for N332, it's a little clearer and states that it won't show on your license unless you take a test. I agree with what you say, I would prefer to see it. So, I'll call to get a definitive answer to be safe.

The reason that they do not put it on your licence is because it is a concession that only applies in Spain. if you took a test it would be valid in other countries.
