My Spanish house is furnished entirely in Swedish Modern.
I Like IKEA, I think the furniture is clean and bright and not expensive. And it flat-packs into the car. I hate 'chintz' and Spanish furniture is too ornate, too dark, too heavy and too expensive.
Seriously, 50k people applying for 300 jobs.

My sister in law is Swedish, and she reckons in Sweden it's regarded as a bit like MFI!

Trying to do that in a language I can only follow veeeeery slooooowly, and living in a place that's so far from any large town that no-one will deliver there - even if they could find my place makes every other supplier a total no-no.

That's your problem, nobody to blame but yourself. But I'm glad some cheap Swedish furniture is keeping you happy. I'll be visiting my son this weekend, and he lives about 10 mins from an Ikea but I certainly won't be bothering to visit the place. Perhaps I'm missing out on a unique buying experience!

I remember furnishing my sons bedroom back in the UK in leaner times, entirely with MFI flat-pack furniture. My assembly skills were even worse than the quality of the furniture and everything wobbled afterwards. Strangely enough, it never fell down, it just wobbled like a drunken sailor on his way home.

IKEA serves a purpose, as has been outlined earlier.
Some 10 years ago after relocating from the UK to NL I had to completely furnish, including things like cutlery, linens, etc. my new apartment. I was able to go to IKEA and buy everthing I needed in a morning. Assembly took a bit longer .
In the subsequent years I have probably replaced about half of what I then purchased. This was always for asthetic reasons rather than breakage. The rest is still doing the job. Functional and adequate rather than particularly tasteful I´ll grant but perfectly good for my requirements.
If I found myself in the same position again I´d do the same and advise anyone else to do so.

We bought some stuff for the room we use as an office. The sevilla shop had just opened. It took OH a full day to assemble a few shelves etc. When all was finished there was a piece left, I looked at the instructions and it said before continuing fix part C to A&B. I told him and he was fed up so he threw it out of the window

Hope they've planned the opening day well. It's not unknown to have a riot on opening day (well the one in Edmonton, London did)
Riot at new Ikea store

There is an IKEA up here in Asturias as well.
The Asturianos seem to love IKEA as when we went it was so busy (no different to the UK's Wembly store).
If you go to another furniture store (say Boj) it's empty.
Modern life eh?
