Default 10 "dumb" fines which can be issued for driving offences.

Just a warning about some odd situations in which you could get yourself in and fined.
Link in Spanish.

I'm glad you said "could", could you imagine Spain with all of those being enforced. ;-) They've missed seatbelts and crash helmets, unless that's a given that you don't need to wear one.

Think you will find many of those could well be against the law in many other countries, and the UK is now to introduce a law making it illegal to smoke in a car where children are present.

I would make it illegal to smoke while driving - damned dangerous.

But the examples you have given are not dumb (as in the title of the thread), these examples are.

Not doing that, just commenting that what is listed in taht article would also be crimes in other countries, not all of them, but, I would suspect, most of them. Especially the eating, drinking and putting on make-up.

Dumb? I'd say sensible to most, 5 was unexpected though. I didn't and from experience many spanish don't know that you have to use lights in contraflow systems

IMHO these are not "dumb" fines, just penalties applicable to those who fail to observe sensible rules they ought to be aware of and follow whilst in charge of a motor vehicle

What, applying make up whilst driving, having a drink or a sandwich is dumb? As someone says, they nearly all are applicable in other countries (not the triangle), I wouldn't class any of them as dumb.

If you read the title of the article is says "10 multas "tontas" que nos costarĂ¡n dinero"
Tontas means foolish; idiotic; stupid; silly. So it is not me saying this rather the Spanish press. I just translated it. As for eating in car, there are not other European countries that has this specific law. I do accept that in some circumstances it may not be wise.
Most of the laws listed one see broken every day here in Spain.

Hi,

I agree with your comment that we should avoid continually compairing Spain to UK. However, please be advised in the UK drivers can and have been prosecuted for this under existing legislation "driving without due care and attention"

It is unfortunate that many (and indeed some on this forum?) flout the law every day.
