Default 0871 Numbers

I often have to call the UK and the numbers often begin with 0871, 0844 etc and you cannot get through calling from Spain. Other than finding a geographical number from "saynoto0871" is there an easier way of calling. Someone told me that there might be a code you put in front of the 0871 number so that you can call from abroad.

Not that I've hear of. Saynoto0870 is the one I use a lot. If I can't find the number on their I try Google, and if that desn't get me a number I just write a letter.

Not true, I always have problems with telefonica landline when I try and dial these numbers. Nice little message can be heard saying either the number does not exist or is not obtainable!

you can dial "0845" numbers from Spain so maybe you could find an alternative to the "0871" for the same company or like Captain Hook says, just type the company name in to Google

Have tried both mobile and landline - neither work. The trouble is that companies charge about 6p per minute for this 08 numbers and it is very hard to obtain a geographical number. They obviously would rather you use their 08 number than a geo number.

I'm wondering if you're dialing it wrong, something easy to do.

I believe you need to dial 0044 then ignore the 0, so UK number 0871 xxx-xxxx would become 0044 871 xxx-xxxx when calling from Spain.

Actually, I think 0870 are charged at 8p, but 0871 are 10p. And those are on landlines.

Called from abroad, they're charged at whatever your carriers international rate is. These numbers aren't usually included in free/cheap international calling plans either.

As I said in my first post I have used saynoto08 numbers but the numbers they list are not always correct. Today I had to ring an 0844 number which worked! Anyway in the end I managed to get the number I was after by calling my father in the UK, asked him to ring the organisation and ask for a geo number - he then called me back with the number.

Perhaps you could submit it to saynoto0870.
