Racism in Singapore?
I have recently heard some rather scary stories about Singapore. People demanding that low wage expat workers (Indian construction workers, filipina maids) are not allowed to take the bus?
Is this really what the situation is like at the moment?

LOL. I also heard that the streets are paved with gold, and money comes out from the walls, in Singapore. Amazing thing, this internet business!

What you heard is not true. The situation is not as what you had mentioned.
The Indian workers and the Filipino maids are free to move around whenever they have off days. There is really no restrictions to where they want to go.

The filipino maids are free to move around a) assuming their employers allow them to have a day off and b) to areas where their employers allow.

But it is also true that there is an underlying sense of racism... Most people are really annoyed with workers sharing buses with them complaining of body odour.
Have people already forgot about the Little India riots that were triggered with an underlying tone of race induced issues?

And it was not started by Singaporeans but by Foreign Workers.
The number of immigrants has nearly doubled the population of Singapore.
What would happen in UK say if that were the case there.

Singapore is a multi-cultural and multi-national place to work, stay and play. I do not think there is racism in Singapore.

Re: Racism in Singapore?
I found many Chinese Singaporeans to be racist towards Malays, Indians and in particular towards PRC's.
Multi-culturalism may be enforced at school level and by racial quotas in HDB's but in general I saw Singaporean Chinese socialising with Singaporean Chinese, Singaporean tamils with Singaporean Tamils etc etc
