Things that annoy you about NZ but aren't really that important!
I mean things like writing on the road which is read from the bottom up such as:
WAY
GIVE
or
BRIDGE
LANE
ONE
Well, it confuses me anyway

I'll counter the above point with something about Britain:
SOFT SHOULDER NEXT 400 YARDS
NO HARD SHOULDER
etc. etc.
Why is it only in Britain that the status of the shoulder is so important as to warrant constant signage?

One we've noticed whilst out driving. You'll get a sign pointing you in the right direction for maybe the motorway, you turn down the road and then hit a T junction and nothing, no sign or anything.
Bonkers and frustrating.

No amber on the traffic lights between Stop and Go and no amber on pedestrian crossings that lets you go if there are no blooming pedestrians in sight. No wonder this place is grid-locked.
Fake 'belisha' beacons and vehicles being able to park right beside zebra crossings, so you can't see people standing there. Grrr!!

Talking of roads - the lack of a decent length slip road on some motorway junctions - just dangerous.
Oh, and the traffic lights to get on to the motorway. Motorway relatively free, queue up for 20 mins at the traffic lights to get on at Khyber Pass Road.
And another oh, the length of time between traffic light changes. Jeez, you could knit a jumper.

Also, the proliferation of traffic lights has become quite amazing. I'd say there are twice as many in Dunedin today as when I left 10 years ago. Other South Island towns seem similarly afflicted. Of course they run 24/7 regardless of whether the road in question sees a single vehicle during the night
Lots of speed limits seem to have sneaked their way down too, 100km/h zones down to 80, 80 and 70km/h zones down to 60 or 50

AIRPORTS: International departure tax paid separate to flight out of Wellington! Domestic departure tax from Hamilton!

But at least it's ~$20, instead of up to ~$160 out of Heathrow (albeit that is hidden!)
