Thanks bobd22. Thats brilliant advice about timing our arrival, for 180 days to give us a little more time and also taking short trips for the 90 days rule.

Gosh it's more complicated than I realized. I had in mind that I'd go to Spain for a year to to get an experience of what its like before fully relocating, but it sounds like I'd need to make up mind...
