Hi Akrasonic, You don't have to worry because there are so many car hire companies which offer car sharing service and also provide you partner.
So my advice is that you go through car hire service...

I think you should sell your furniture. Leaving your stuff like furniture will be more economical for you. If you choose self storage or shipping option then you have to pay huge amount.
