Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

I just want it to be a quality product, that's all. I hope I never need to use it - which would render the choice of device irrelevant as long as it's compliant - but if I happen to be SOL one day...

Re: If the ATM swallows your card

Literally every Apple phone still in use today should be fine as they've had NFC for over a decade, from the iPhone 6 to the newest 16 model.

ApplePay works brilliantly, there really is no reason...

Re: If the ATM swallows your card

I saw a similar feature on an ING ATM so I assume they have this function too and that it isn't just there to serve 3rd party customers.

When you insert a card into an ATM is it always the...

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

I think we just want a quality device at that price, so either 'Made in Spain' (or Europe) or something from a renown company like Osram.

The Netun one that PoloMarco suggested looks good,...

Re: Finding a Gestoria

Have you looked at the residency side of being able to move? Do you have an EU passport in addition to the UK one?

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

Many thanks, will see if this one or the Osram model are available locally.

Interestingly the one you posted has an app that you can register the devide with, and apparently it works with some...

Re: If the ATM swallows your card

I still find it frightening that fraud was committed on your card... whilst it was in the bank's possession, having been swallowed up by the ATM.

Re: Solar Install costs

Wow, that's huge. Our apartment with 4 of us in it uses about 5k per annum in total, but then again it is just an apartment.

So if you are connected to the grid and generate more during the day...

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

If I'm going to pay close to 50 Euro for one then it might as well come from a decent brand like Osram. LEDguardian ROAD FLARE Signal V16 IoT...

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

Many thanks, I will look for one that has the cellular data feature. Do you actually have to register it so that they can associate the signal with your car or is it all just anonymous?

This...

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

I have one of those in the car - it came with it when I purchased my coche.

It doesn't look like it can transmit any data though, but then looks could be deceiving... :)

Re: Flashing V16 beacons for the car

Darn, is this required across Spain, including far away places such as the Canary Islands?

How much and which model did you get from Amazon? Did you do any research before choosing this one?

Re: Inheriting Spanish property as a non-resident?

Good question, I don't know whether there was a will (and on which side) but I will find out the next time I talk to them. It's basically just a son and daughter who would be inheriting (no spouse)....

Inheriting Spanish property as a non-resident?

My friends (not resident in Spain) have a parent who retired in sunny Spain and bought a property there, but whose life prospects aren't that great due to age and deteriorating state of health.

Re: UK passport online renewal for expats

Good to hear that everything went smoothly and quickly! I take it you still had to send in your current (most recent) UK passports as part of the application process?

Re: UK Electronic Travel Authorisation

Used the app recently for someone and the application was approved within minutes (probably without human intervention).

Keep in mind that its validity is two years or whenever the passport...

Re: EES & ETIAS update and explanation

If it keeps getting pushed back again and again then maybe we can make our way into the EEA before the new system goes online? :)

Re: Skype is closing down

I'm just hoping that the features we currently use in Skype will be ported over and made available on Teams as well. Free video calls will obviously be there, but I'm curious whether international...

Re: If the ATM swallows your card

Good point. In fact every bank I deal with has it deactivated by default. You actually need to make an effort to activate it and on top of that need to provide the dates during which you want the...

Re: Buying a house in Martos, Spain

Holiday home, yes, retirement home... no right to live in Spain any longer than a tourist I'm afraid (as above 90 days out of 180).

We are currently in the dark ages back in the UK (due to the...

Oh I think the results would be to the contrary. And none of this comes under the scope of EU law as this is entirely a local matter so only national/regional jurisdiction applies.

I would put in...

Re: Good news?

Personally I would mainly do two things, ban short-term/vacation rentals in residential properties (exactly what Singapore did) and sharply ramp up taxes on multiple property ownership. Essentially...

Re: Good news?

The article is from 2020. Berlin's rental cap (Mietendeckel) was declared unconstitutional in 2021 and treated as if it never became law. People ended up having to give money back to landlords...

Re: GIBRALTAR 2024

What a cushy job - so he can only be fired by the very top man and on top of that simultaneously needs to be offered a different position to jump right into?
