Re: Welfare State Britain

:) A bit like the NHS then. I hope your job stays safe. I think it might be some of the less known universities that suffer more from job losses and those teaching at the so called "English...

Re: Welfare State Britain

You're worried about the UK missing out on 127 million when the annual welfare bill is £164.7 billion! I'm amazed that people think these welfare payments can continue. Government debt has...

Re: Welfare State Britain

At least one of those conditions you mentioned apply to the tax credits welfare payments too. If the government suspects welfare fraud, your data protection rights go out of the window. They can...

Re: Welfare State Britain

I agree with that and will add that I don't mind supporting those that have just lost their jobs, to enable them to find another job. That's what the welfare system was set up for, to help those in...

Re: Welfare State Britain

The word "tax" in tax credits is misleading as it has nothing to do with taxes paid. You don't have to work to get tax credits. Tax credits are a welfare payment. Some people missed out on this...

Re: Welfare State Britain

You don't have to be working to get tax credits. In fact the way it was set up, the less you work and don't save, the more tax credits you get. It was a crazy, ill thought out idea

I mean all tax...

All the tax credits came in in about 2002(ish) and...
