Hi Andy, you'd need 7 years experience for an ARTC certificate. I think you'd be best waiting until you get here to do any Electrical or Plumbing course as you would probably have to do a course here...

I think the fitter/mechanic thing is only an issue in some states (don't quote me on that though :o )

I know in Queensland a fitter can not connect to the mains and a mechanic can. Therefore...

I'm not sure how long ago the other states started recognising the licence from here, but it seems to work for a few. PEER even send all the course work for...

He's working for a company who make parts for Holden. So he doesn't need anything else as he works in a factory, mainly on PLC's

Why not get a form sent to the Australian address that you have and get them to forward it over to you. At least then you can start filling it all in.

Then as soon as your visa comes you can send...

Have a word with Steve'o, he applied from the UK and has just been issued his ARTC certificate. Although he's supplied them with an Australian address, so don't know if that makes any difference....

It's free if you have the pre-migration assessment done. I think that may be for people who may have gone on a different visa and not had their skills assessed for some reason.

Here's a selection of jobs advertised on www.seek.com.au for an electrical engineer. There doesn't seem to be much consistancy with the licence part really, but they seem to mention a D class licence...
