Not just transport - for a lot of families, access to good schools (both primary and secondary schools) is a high priority. Well it is, at least for us. I'd happily live in the boonies IF there were...

The problem with that (keeping your assets in cash) is tax and inflation will soon erode your capital.

Very glad I didn't invest in Melbourne in March 2008. Got a significantly higher return (A$ appreciation notwithstanding) investing elsewhere.

PS: Only arrived here as a permanent resident in Sept...

Makes you wonder why doesn't it? A lot of spruiking, then it goes a wee bit quiet and then a bit of negative news(but not really negative as they still have to worry about their sponsors,...

Really? I must have missed reading them on The Age, SMH etc. in any case am sure that for every article alluding to a bubble there are a dozen directly talking it up.

The reason I ask is because I've seen "cash" investors in Dubai who were in reality simply speculators who only paid the booking/initial deposit in cash.
