A new electric bill has arrived. It's for the past month so not a wintry time.

The price per kilojiggy varies by time of day but the total for 370+56+65 kWh is $26.66. The bill is for $200.56 less...

You're not in the country. If we use a kilowatt of power in a month the charge is $175.13 per kilowatt which is comfortably more than 17p per kilowatt. The actual bill is usually around $200 dollars,...

Electricity here is about $175/month for delivery, taxes, debt repayment, sundry other fixed charges, so, if you only turn on one light bulb for one morning, it's got to be as expensive as anywhere...

But people are bigger here. I assume that, in order to maintain, or indeed, to initially establish, their bulk, people in Canada must eat more.

If I want a quality scallion, a box of camembert or a couple of pounds of raclet. I hop in the car and drive for an hour and a half to the St. Lawrence Market, then I drive back again and eat it....
