Because the airline is responsible for flying you home if you get deported on a one way ticket.

Just buy a return and either ignore the return portion or date it as far in the future as you can...

Unfortunately, the score alone is pretty meaningless. It's the combination, variety and type of credit that is more important to the important stuff like mortgages.

There are millions of threads, but also a decent wiki on building up credit history. There's no real short cut though as it is the history that counts when it comes to house mortgages.

Selling a place will cost you 6% to the realtor plus any other costs, so not very cheap unless you plan to keep the house for 4-5 years plus. So without greencards, might not be sensible. Also you...

You won't be doing that work while you are physically in the US, not legally at least.

Furniture, if the company is paying to bring it and possibly to repatriate it if you move back you've nothing...
