Then why doesn´t it say that? No other bank says that. As for trying to open one, slightly pointless in my case as I already hold accounts with them.

No they don´t. They just ask for a passport they do not say that a UK passport is invalid.

I get on a plane arrive in the UK have a house in the UK go to Lloyds show my passport and give my address, then presumably I get a bank account. I am looking to stay permanently but then I have to...

But you don´t need to prove it at Lloyds, the only proof required is your passport.

If you are new to the UK it is unlikely that you will be on the electoral roll also you do not necessarily have to pay "poll" tax (is it called poll tax anymore?)

All they want is your passport...

Well I thought this was the case but the leaflet that I picked up stated very clearly that if you were "new" to the country all you needed was your passport and ID card. Have the rules been relaxed...

Just thought this information may be of interest. When in the UK I picked up a leaflet from Lloyds TSB which said if you are new to the UK you could open up a bank account with them with nothing...
