To retire here you would still need some sort of PR visa, there is no retirement class anymore.

Personally its no skin of my nose, but I think it important for people to very carefully examine their motivation for deciding to move countries.

The UK is a nice enough place and offers great...

You dont see the irony in seemingly complaining about the English moving to Scotland and buying into the community, but wishing to move to Canada and do the same thing yourself?:confused:

I dont understand, are you saying people in the UK country are more likely to shaft you over? They seem just as nice as rural canadians to me, having lived in both places.

This just highlights the highly localised nature of education here, with many separate boards doing things differently.

Apart from the agenda I dont recognise any of this as stuff we do here...

Reallly. From the M1 to and from Gatwick. Yes, there are roadworks, but stuff kept moving through them at 40MPH thanks to the average speed enforcement.

Doesnt change the fact that its very expensive to go anywhere, and that anywhere with sun and sand will be a fairly long trek from the West Coast.

Im not sure I identify particulary with the holiday ethic, its very employer dependent I suspect. Police officer will get more than two weeks anyway.

Depends if you like them or not doesnt it? I rather like mine. You could meet up with old childless friends too, there is no obligation to make it a family thing. We get away from the Canadian...

One option is for everyone to meet up in the Caribbean somewhere... obviously not those too infirm to travel, but you know what I mean. Worked well for us anyway.

Well, if skiing and hiking is what you like, then Western Canada can accommodate you.

Cost of living here is probably similar to the UK, some things are more, some are less. Property costs are...
