you can see the kids' stall on the right in the background of the middle photo. Funny thing was that the Governor made a beeline for it - when he got his wallet out to pay the 50c they gave it to him...

So we just got back from cheering on our local 4th of July parade. Most of it was the usual kind of stuff: marching bands, a beauty queen, bagpipes, vintage cars, a truckload of grizzled WW2...

neither did my old man - but he never went further than Crail in Scotland, and doesn't speak with a great deal of fondness about his years in the RAF.

one question might be to what extent singing "God bless America" at baseball games and driving around with "support the troops" stickers on cars actually translates to any tangible efforts to make...
