Its a mutually agreeable arrangement. The landlord has something I need and am willing to pay for. What landlord does with the money doesnt worry me.

Something like that, 750k would get a 2 bed unit in Collaroy. We are enjoying living in a house we could not afford to buy.

I dont see the relevance. My comparison was commutable to Sydney versus commutable to London. And my standards here and there, obviously not living in identical houses but compaeable.

Houses and renting! OMG. My 3 bed house in UK is being rented out for £1400 a month, here I pay $1300 a week...

I can't remember UK rates clearly but I *think* car hire is relatively expensive here; we went to Melbourne last weekend and it cost us $200 for 18 hours of car hire and that was with an employee...
