you have to look at the technical description of eastern suburbs, instead of assuming its paddington, bellevue hill or rose bay etc

Hmm I thought the ergoflex were more expensive in Aus than UK - must go and check, was thinking of buying one here because I never really got to use the one I bought in Aus! And dont even go there with the Tempur - they were well out of range in Aus.

I think stationery might be more expensive here in UK - Staples isnt really competitive with Office Works imho. Havent done much stationery shopping but the el cheapo presentation books didnt seem to be available.

Still trying to find things that are more expensive here other than fuel. My car insurance has been more expensive but not when you include roadside assist and take into account the fact that we havent built up the NCB yet, which we had in Aus. The car itself is considerably cheaper than the Aus equivalent.

The NCB you built up in Oz should have been transferrable to the UK.

Completely agree. Been in Oz 2 months and those listed above are definately cheaper than we found them to be in the UK

Houses and renting! OMG. My 3 bed house in UK is being rented out for £1400 a month, here I pay $1300 a week for a 3 bed house.
We are paying $265 a week for a 3 bed house

Yes I'm the same, there seems to be the odd thing like big TV's for some reason but most things are at the very best the same price here but usually more.
What I have found with the car insurance is that when I add the CTP the quotes I have had from the UK are comparable. Didn't your new company accept your Australian NCB ?

I dont see the relevance. My comparison was commutable to Sydney versus commutable to London. And my standards here and there, obviously not living in identical houses but compaeable.

You can rent a 3 bed house in Yorkshire for less than £100 a week if that helps ?

Surrounded by nature on the edge of Toowoomba with views to die for. Yes it is bushland....real Australia. Wallaroos in our 1 acre garden. Feed Kookaburra twice a day etc etc. We have no aircon or swimming pool and we LOVE IT!! Toowoomba is beautiful and has everything we need. The people here are sooo friendly and genuine and the sunshine coast only 2 hours or so away. You can stick your big cities where the sun don't shine.

The relevence is that I was replying to a post stating they were paying over $1000 a week........giving a bit of balance!

It's fair to say that this isn't a fair comparison, expect if you were comparing Mr Toowoomba's acreage to that 3 bedroom semi in Yorkshire

Good for you, I'm glad you have found a place that suits you. I could never live there but that's why we are all different, I also couldn't live in a big city.
