The TV was $300 thanks to my mother-in-law's habitual bargain hunting. I believe the play all DVD player set me back $30 or $40 at The Brick.
It's only the TV for the other half to fall asleep to.

I have two bits of advice for anyone considering shipping a tv over, especially if its just for everyday viewing:

1) Don't

2) Buy a tv here (a cheap one will probably cost less than to ship one...

I've heard that they only clear the snow once there's a break in the snow fall (I guess so that it's not just falling back into place behind the plough).

I found the city generally fine to drive...

I'm moving to Winnipeg in the next few months. I've been to and through it in Feb/March (twice) and Dec/Jan.

Now I could be talking sheep to a shepherd, but just in case you're not aware of the 'technical' differences, DVD discs are region coded.

In the UK (and Japan) they are region 2. In North America...
