Re: DO ALL your homework :0)

I read on another post of someone who is paying over $400 a month for heart medication.

Are prescriptions generally covered by health insurance or is this an 'add-on'?

Thanks

Re: Wrong time to emigrate?

Re: Wrong time to emigrate?

Thank you, snowshoveller; that's the sort of information I was after when looking for other discussions on this (I didn't want to rehash a subject that might have been done to death already).

Wrong time to emigrate?

Sorry, I've done searches, but not been successful. Can anyone point me to any threads discussing the economic climate, job losses, and opinions on whether it is best to stay put for the time being?...

Re: Ping pong pom

Jade Goody? Well, because she's only 27 and dying of cancer. It is an emotive story and people are interested - hence it's on the front covers. It has, however, had the effect of thousands of women...

Re: How much to save?

Thank you for your reply and yes it helps enormously. So from what everyone has said I have a much better idea of the minimum funds I need to put aside/save up, but of course, getting together as...

Re: How much to save?

I bet - I've just finished decorating and unpacked loads of books from boxes in the loft. I was pretty amazed how many there were and thought they must have cost me a fortune over the years.

I was...

Re: How much to save?

Cheers Souvenir.

I will have some equity from a house sale, but what I was after doing was keeping the money separate; like '£xx put aside for a house deposit', '£x put aside for retirement...

Re: How much to save?

Thank you for the breakdown - that's really useful and allows me to check off what applies to me and what doesn't.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

Re: How much to save?

Mentioning someone's pointless sarcasm on a forum is a totallly different situation to putting up with rude/abusive people in authority.

But thank you for pointing out I'm probably too sensitive...

Re: How much to save?

Thank you everyone for your really useful replies. I know everyone's circumstances are different and getting other people's experiences and rough estimates are really very handy.

Thanks again...

Re: How much to save?

But they didn't say "save everything you can". I wouldn't think that is sarcastic, I'd think that was good advice. They actually said "As much as possible....obviously", which IS sarcastic.

Re: How much to save?

Yes, I appreciate that ... just how much to put aside from any equity is the question. I had no idea whether that would be £2,000 or £20,000 - thanks to christmas and liverman I now have a bit more...

Sorry to all those I've annoyed by not giving my circumstances - certainly not intentional. I didn't choose not to clarify; I just didn't think to in my post!

I still think "how long is a piece of...

Thank you Christmasoompa, this is really useful and exactly the sort of answer I was looking for. A rough figure is all I was after, just so I know roughly what to aim for

Equity from a house doesn't really come into it. It still costs a certain amount of money to emmigrate - whether you have equity or not.
